Music Director Paul Grimwood graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Honours Music. He has been the Director of Music at Central Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, since 1979. Mr Grimwood is on the teaching staff of the School of the Arts at McMaster University, has been the Chairman of the Hamilton Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. He was the accompanist for the Bach-Elgar Choir of Hamilton for fifteen years,. and has been accompanist for many soloists and ensembles in the Hamilton area.

The Organ

The Organ A four manual, 80 rank, Casavant instrument, the organ was installed for the opening of the newly built sanctuary in 1908. Major work was done to the organ in 1982 and it is now one of the largest and most versatile instruments in the Hamilton area. More info

Central is well known for the quality of its choir and music, both on Sunday mornings and in special services and concerts throughout the year. In 2001, the choir travelled to England where they sang daily choral services at St. Paul's Cathedral, London and Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford.
The choir returned to St. Paul's in August of 2008 as well as singing at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland

Annual concerts


  • Candlelight Carol Service This service takes place on the second Sunday in December at 7:30 p.m. with traditional and lesser known carols and features our choir, accompanied with brass and organ.
  • Sundays at Three A series of free concerts on Sunday afternoons in Lent. The organ is a regular feature, but there are vocal and chamber music presentations as well.
