Central Presbyterian Church Hamilton

Becoming a Member

Jesus sent the church into the world “to make disciples”. Jesus invited all sorts of people to follow him and learn from him. He still does. As a congregation we welcome new members, not simply to add numbers to our roll, but rejoicing as others sign on as disciples of Jesus.

How does a person become a member at Central?

* If you have entered High School you are welcome to join a Confirmation Class. This class meets over four months and at its conclusion, young people will be given the opportunity to consider making vows in which they profess their faith in Jesus Christ and join the company of the church.

* If you are a member of another congregation seeking to transfer your membership to Central, then that is done simply by letting the Minister know, and presenting a letter. Members coming to us by transfer are received by the Session and welcomed into membership during a morning Worship Service.

* If you are not currently active in any church, you are invited to take a course called Faith Basics. This six week course presents the basics of the Christian story and Christian claims. At the end of Faith Basics, which is open to anyone, those who have wrestled with this issue of faith in Christ are invited to consider making a commitment to Christ and in doing so, become members of this congregation.
