Central Presbyterian Church Hamilton

There are many groups at Central Presbyterian Church with a variety of interests.

Central Connections is an enthusiastic women’s group which meets to encourage all members to share their gifts in responding to the needs of the church and the community at large. This group was newly formed late in 2002. Anyone interested in joining should contact the church office.

The Mom’s Coffee Hour is a welcoming space for women to meet, relax and make friends. It provides a circle of Christian care and encouragement for women to explore and discuss the Christian faith, and a place where their children receive care and nurture. The group is open to anyone in the community who cares to join. Meetings are Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:00.

The Men's Breakfast Club meets on the last Friday of each month at 8.00 a.m. This is an opportunity for men in the congregation to gather, eat, have a brief devotion, and then either have a ‘Who am I?’ talk from one of the members, or a talk from a guest speaker. We finish at 9.00 a.m. If you plan to attend, telephone the Church Office at 905-522-9098. Normally we meet at the Scottish Rite Building at the corner of Queen and George Streets in downtown Hamilton. The cost is $10 per person for a cooked breakfast. Alternatives are available.

The Sunday Lunch Bunch is a seasonal opportunity for anyone in the congregation to go out together for lunch after worship on Sundays. This is a great way to connect with others. The Sunday Lunch Bunch is especially good for those who would be otherwise eating alone. So, on Sunday Lunch Bunch Sundays, sign up at Church, and then show up at the designated restaurant at 12.30 p.m.

Prime Time is a program of learning and laughter open to all who care to attend. It is held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from September to June, at 2.00 p.m. and is led by the Minister. All sorts of topics are considered, most recently, a series of discussions on how Christians ought to look at the larger world, including the world of other religions.

The Elizabeth Lyle Auxiliary to the Women's Missionary Society is a friendly group open to all. We invite you to bring your lunch and enjoy the provided dessert and coffee. Our programme includes devotionals and a speaker. This leads to very informative meetings that focus on missionary activities in the community and abroad. Meeting - First Tuesday each month at 12.00 noon.

The VIP Team, [the Visitors in the Parish Team], is a group of men and women who have indicated an interest in being a visitor for others in the congregation who are in hospital or who are housebound. Team members have received some basic training in listening and pastoral care, and then been approved by the Session. If you would like to volunteer for this caring ministry, or would like to have a VIP come to visit you, contact Beth MacKay Reilly, Director of Pastoral Ministries, at. 905-522-9098 ext. 24.
